PreXion, a manufacturer of 3D cone-beam CT systems for dentistry, has named Motoaki Saito, MD, PhD, as its new CEO. Dr. Saito is the founder of PreXion and has served as chairman of the company since 2007.
In 1997 Dr. Saito founded TeraRecon, which offers 3D imaging software and systems for medical and industrial applications. He served as TeraRecon's CEO for the first 12 years and has served as chief technology officer for the last two years, and is currently the chairman of the board of directors.
Dr. Saito is a radiologist, entrepreneur, inventor, and visionary with numerous patents to his name, according to PreXion. His academic research and clinical training at the University of Tokyo Hospital provided him with experience with all medical imaging modalities and information systems.
Dr. Saito received his bachelor of science degree in medicine from Niigata University and passed the Japanese National Medical Practitioners Qualifying Examination in 1992. In 2004 he received his doctorate in radiology and biomedical engineering from the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Medicine.
