Three new intraoral imaging products are making their debut at this week's Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting.
Dexis announced the release of the DEXcam 3 intraoral video camera, which is portable, accessible, and provides highly defined image quality, according to the company.
Technical features include:
- A seven-element glass optical lens, four bright LEDs, and an internal prism for optimal lighting, along with a Sony CCD sensor.
- Precision-ground glass optics to eliminate image distortion.
- Capture control to freeze the streaming video into a still image and save the image to the patient record.
- Slide focus, which allows viewing of intr-oral and extraoral images without a lens change.
- High-speed direct USB connection, eliminating the need for a docking station.
Gendex Dental Systems also launched the GXC-300 intraoral camera, designed to help build doctor-patient communication and treatment acceptance at an affordable price, according to the company.
Clinicians and patients alike can appreciate clear, undistorted, well-lighted images due to the camera's precision optics, Sony CCD sensor, and LED lighting system, according to Gendex. Other features include a lightweight handpiece and direct connection to a computer via high-speed USB so no docking station is required. In addition, on and off activation of the camera is automatically controlled by placement in the holster.
Not to be outdone, Air Techniques introduced the Polaris intraoral camera, which features a patent-pending 330° swivel head and rounded ergonomic design. In addition to the swivel head, the Polaris is unique among intraoral cameras in that image capture occurs upon release of the trigger button, according to the company. The Polaris sells for around $4,995.
