Business & Industry Insider: 3 quotes give peek into what may come for dental industry

Dear Business & Industry Insider,

In the wake of COVID-19, our industry has changed. It also continues to morph with new data emerging and new projections about what is to come in terms of the economy, both in our industry and our country.

Over the past few days, as dental practices have begun to emerge from limitations on treating their entire patient bases, some thoughts have been expressed about how our industry will be impacted and how the way we do business will be changed as well.

In listening to various interviews and reading articles and transcripts, three quotes jumped out at me about the current state of dentistry, how it has changed, and what that change could mean in the next few weeks and months as we all try to figure out what the "new normal" will really look like.

Those three quotes, as well as some insight and commentary on them, are the basis of our latest Business & Industry Insider Exclusive. I hope it will provide you with some insight -- and make you think about how business will likely be different moving forward.

In other news in the Business & Industry Community, about half of dental practices in states that were given the green light to provide elective dental care have reopened, despite having no or limited supplies of recommended personal protective equipment, according to new data from the ADA Health Policy Institute. I found the data and talking points very interesting and I think you will as well.

A bill recently passed in North Carolina allows dentists to administer diagnostic tests and antibody tests for COVID-19, provided the tests have been approved or authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. I talked to the executive director of the North Carolina Dental Society about the bill and what it means for North Carolina's dentists.

Finally, have you been trying to figure out a way to stay connected with your customers? The Dental Trade Alliance and Lanmark360 have created a social media-based campaign that allows dentists to stay in touch with patients during the pandemic.

Thank you for being a Business & Industry Insider! We wish you and your loved ones health and safety.
