Has this happened at your practice? The patient in your chair is certain that pain emanates from a certain tooth, but you can't find anything that would be causing that pain, until you search other areas of the mouth. This has happened to Dr. Lisa Knowles, and she's developed three tips to help her diagnose these patients with clarity.

A 44-year-old man presented with occasional and ill-defined pain on the left side of the mandible.
