AADR will take over Friends of the NIDCR's work in 2016

After Friends of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (FNIDCR) ceases operations at the end of 2015, the American Association for Dental Research (AADR) will continue its work.

The FNIDCR Board of Directors voted unanimously to cease operations as of December 31, 2015, to increase efficiency, eliminate the duplication of advocacy efforts, and provide a stronger voice for patient advocates and greater support for the NIDCR director.

The AADR will take over FNIDCR's program activities on January 1, 2016. It will also add the FNIDCR Patient Advocacy Council to its governing structure.

"Although this was a challenging decision for the FNIDCR board, it was the right thing to do on behalf of all of the NIDCR stakeholders and to streamline our activities under AADR," FNIDCR President Christian Stohler stated in a press release.

"AADR is excited about pursuing the activities formerly conducted by FNIDCR and supported by such key stakeholders as the ADA, ADEA, dental industry, dental schools and patient advocates," AADR President Paul Krebsbach stated. "This new arrangement will enable the dental, oral and craniofacial community to speak with one voice on Capitol Hill and amplify our efforts to educate the public about the important role of the NIDCR."
