The Caring for Colorado Foundation has announced the awarding of $2.7 million in grants to more than 50 organizations throughout Colorado, including several focused on dental and oral healthcare.
"The foundation's most recent round of funding illustrates our continuing efforts to close the healthcare gaps in Colorado and improve the overall health of Coloradans," stated Chris Wiant, president and CEO of Caring for Colorado, in a release.
Programs awarded grant money include the Garfield County Public Health Department to provide preventive oral healthcare services to underserved elementary and middle school students in Garfield, Eagle, and Pitkin counties; the Mineral County Board of County Commissioners to establish a new dental clinic in Creede; and the Inner City Health Center - Dental Clinic Program to increase access to dental care.
Created from the sale of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Colorado to Anthem in 1999, Caring for Colorado is dedicated to improving the health and healthcare of the people of Colorado by partnering with communities to strengthen programs that promote and improve oral health, mental health, healthy children and families, the healthcare workforce, and overall community health.
