A South Carolina dentist has pleaded guilty for failing to pay $308,781 in federal taxes that had been withheld from employees and the dental practice's share of payroll taxes.
Daniel Pasui, DDS, 43, of Easley, SC, pled guilty in federal court to eight counts of failing to pay taxes to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS), according to U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles.
An investigation found that during eight quarters between March 2009 and June 2011, Dr. Pasui collected employment taxes and accounted for the collections on filed returns but failed to pay approximately $308,781 in taxes to the IRS.
Dr. Pasui faces fines of $250,000 and/or imprisonment for five years for each count, plus a special assessment of $100.
