The Delta Dental of Arizona Foundation has awarded more than $455,000 to 26 community organizations that promote oral health and disease prevention programs in Arizona.
Grants ranging from $6,500 to $25,000 are awarded each year to support a range of preventive services, the foundation noted on its blog.
This year's grant recipients include Flagstaff Medical Center, which was awarded a $10,000 grant for its program that provides electric toothbrushes, education, and instruction to children with chronic and disabling health conditions. A $25,000 grant was awarded to provide fluoride varnish applications and oral health education to children participating in Homeward Bound. Phoenix nonprofit Southwest Human Development received $15,000, which will be used to train staff who provide home and classroom site visits to more than 3,000 children and families.
