Dux Dental has donated $11,800 to the Tracy Lane Foundation in acknowledgement of January as Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.
The color teal represents cervical cancer awareness, and Dux Dental has donated $1 for every teal-colored product sold in 2013. This represents thousands of teal-colored mirrors, trays, and tubs in the company's line of dental supplies.
Paul Porteous, CEO of Dux Dental, noted that cervical cancer is treatable and the Tracy Lane Foundation is supporting positive outcomes for women diagnosed with cervical cancer by financially supporting screening, vaccinations, and treatment efforts.
Tracy Lane and her husband Derek Lane, of La Quinta, CA, created the foundation in July 2013, less than a year after Tracy was diagnosed with stage 3B cervical cancer. Despite aggressive treatment, Tracy subsequently passed away from cervical cancer on August 10, 2013, at the age of 31. The mission of the foundation is to promote early detection of cervical cancer by encouraging women to get regular checkups, including Pap smear exams and human papillomavirus screenings and vaccinations.
