Insurance broker sues Delta Dental; dental care OK during pregnancy?

Delta Dental of Illinois has come under fire for allegedly blocking an insurance broker from getting a commission on a policy issued to the Chicago police union.

The broker, Source 1 Benefits, is now suing Delta Dental, claiming that "this case involves a massive insurance company trying to beat a small broker out of the commission it earned and the client it had served." Read more in this latest Practice Management Community news feature.

Meanwhile, dental x-rays and dental hygiene appointments are safe for pregnant women, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). In fact, the ACOG is advising all obstetricians and gynecologists to perform routine oral health assessments at the first prenatal visit and encourage their patients to see a dentist during pregnancy.
