A Canadian dental lab is suing a competitor for $1.25 million, according to documents filed in Nova Scotia Supreme Court on December 18.
Ivory Dental Laboratory alleged that the actions of defendants East Coast Dental Lab Services, Smart Dental Technics, David Smart, and Jina Baek caused it "irreparable harm and loss of business," reported a story in the Chronicle Herald.
Smart and Baek were former Ivory employees who allegedly breached employment agreements with the company by joining East Coast Dental earlier this year.
Ivory is seeking $1 million in damages for breach of the agreements, breach of fiduciary duty, and unlawful business interference, plus $250,000 in punitive damages and injunctions meant to keep the defendants from disrupting Ivory's business. The complaint also orders the defendants to turn over any confidential Ivory materials in their possession.
