The Kentucky House Health and Welfare committee has passed a bill that would require the Cabinet for Health and Family Services to work with two state universities to develop a pilot project that would improve access to oral health services for nursing home residents.
Under HB 510, the pilot project would be funded by federal civil monetary penalties collected from nursing homes when deficiencies were found. It also calls for nursing aides to be hired to provide oral care services to nursing home residents, according to a story in the Lexington Herald-Leader.
The legislation will now be voted on by the full House.
