Precious Cells expands stem-cell facilities

Precious Cells International has opened its central stem-cell processing and storage facility at Brunel Science Park in London.

Headed by a stem-cell biologist, a dentist, and a team of clinical advisers, the company has opened subsidiary offices and stem-cell collection centers in 15 countries to date.

Precious Cells offers collection, processing, and long-term storage of stem cells from teeth, umbilical cord blood and tissue, bone marrow, and adipose tissue.

Deciduous teeth, healthy wisdom teeth, and permanent teeth extracted for orthodontic purposes all contain stem cells that have the ability to develop into many different types of tissue and can potentially be used to replace diseased and damaged tissues in the body without rejection, according to a company press release.
