Which states top Pew report? And, Dr. Malcmacher talks Botox

Which U.S. states top the Pew Center on the States' 2011 "report card" on the status of kids' oral health, and which still fall far short?

This latest Pew survey, "The State of Children's Dental Health: Making Coverage Matter," found that more than 20 states have improved the quality and availability of dental care for children during the past year. But several still don't have even basic policies or programs in place. Read more in this latest Practice Management Community feature.

In related news, researchers from the University of Pennsylvania used a unique approach to identify the challenges parents on Medicaid can face when trying to get dental care for their kids: They had six women pretend to be the mother of a 10-year-old boy with a broken tooth and call dozens of dental practices, sometimes saying they had private insurance, sometimes saying they were on Medicaid.
