A New York dentist, Roger Stevens, DDS, launched a Good Deed Contest in January that urges children to submit an essay about a good deed they have done, according to a news story on WIBW.com.
Whether helping a senior citizen cross the street, helping an elderly woman with her groceries, or organizing a fund-raiser at school to help other children in the community who are less fortunate, children 18 and younger are encouraged to tell their good deed story. The winner will receive a new computer.
"We all have an interest in providing a stable foundation of healthy values to our youngsters," Dr. Stevens stated in the story. "We believe that children deserve a helping hand in reaching their goals by creating caring values."
The contest closes on May 13, 2011.
