Some of the 900 tickets handed out recently for free dental care at a Mission of Mercy (MOM) clinic in Roanoke, VA, have been posted for sale on eBay and Craigslist, according to a story by WDBJ TV.
Some sellers are asking for as much as $550 for the tickets, which were given away for free on March 26, according to the TV station. The tickets are for an April 1 and April 2 dental clinic being held at the Roanoke Civic Center.
One listing, posted on eBay, reads: "Free Dental Work! Roanoke Missions Mercy Ticket 4/2." The post says the starting bid is $250, with a "buy it now" price of $550.
The Roanoke MOM is conducted one weekend each year and uses portable dental equipment for cleanings, x-rays, oral surgery, and fillings. The Roanoke MOM has provided $1.7 million in free dental services to more than 3,000 adults in the Roanoke Valley during the past three years.
Mission of Mercy told WDBJ it is aware of the postings and is asking the websites to take down the listings.
