Taking a cue from the phenomenal success of the "David After Dentist" YouTube video sensation, Jack in the Box is airing a commercial that shows Jack under the influence of nitrous oxide at his dentist's office and promising to give away free food.
The fast-food restaurant will follow through on Jack's promise on November 16 by giving away two free tacos to every customer after 2 p.m.
Secret Weapon Marketing, the creative company behind marketing at Jack in the Box, says the giveaway is a way to show the restaurant's appreciation to loyal patrons, according to an article in QSR Magazine.
The purpose of the ad and the free tacos promotion is to reward customers, the article noted. The restaurant's Be a Rich Fan campaign on Facebook sought to do just that: Until October 25, the restaurant donated 5¢ into a money jar on Facebook for every person who "liked" Jack's fan page. The grand prize amount of $11,533.35 will be rewarded to one fan.
"We look at Facebook and Twitter and MySpace as ways to have a conversation rather than just pushing out a message to consumers," Joanne O'Brien, group account director at Secret Weapon, told QSR.
