The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) awarded 324 dentists with Fellowship and Mastership awards for 2010 during a special ceremony at the academy's annual meeting this month in New Orleans.
Eighty-seven dentists received the AGD's Mastership award, the organization's highest honor, according to the AGD. To receive this honor, doctors must complete 1,100 hours of continuing dental education. To date, approximately 2,700 AGD members have earned Mastership honors.
An additional 237 dentists received the Fellowship award by completing 500 hours of continuing dental education, passing a comprehensive exam, and fulfilling three years of continuous membership in the AGD. To date, approximately 15,000 AGD members have earned Fellowship honors.
