A Tufts Dental Facilities clinic in Waltham, MA, that was scheduled to close on June 30 due to a cost-saving measure by the state will stay open for another year, according to a news story in the Boston Globe.
Tufts Dental Facilities is a collection of seven sites operated by the Tufts School of Dental Medicine that serve disabled patients. The clinic is housed in the Fernald Development Center, a residential facility for patients with severe mental disorders, autism, or brain injuries.
According to the Fernald League for the Retarded, the clinic will now remain open until June 30, 2011, the Globe reported.
State officials are planning to accommodate patients from the clinic at six other Tufts dental clinics around the state, and the clinic will remain open during this transition, according to the story.
