A bill in the West Virginia Legislature would create a state office to coordinate oral health services in the state, according to a report by WBOY.com.
"West Virginia has been fighting this oral health issue for decades," said Sen. Roman Prezioso, D-Marion, chairman of the state Senate Health and Human Resources Committee, according to the television channel. "And it's important in a lot of different aspects. Not just the health aspects, but the economic development part of it (because) people need good dental health care to go out and secure jobs."
The new office would have full-time staff to supplement work already being done in public schools by an office within the West Virginia Department of Education.
