A U.S. appropriations bill signed into law this month boosts training programs for dentistry for fiscal 2010, according to a report by the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD).
The law allocates $7.58 million to train general dentists and the same amount to train pediatric dentists, more than half again as much as the $5 million the two programs received in 2009, according to the AGD.
The law also allocates $413.24 million for dental-related research through the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research.
