A South Korean company is suing Procter & Gamble, claiming P&G's Crest Whitestrips Advanced Seal whitening products infringe two of its patents, according to news reports.
In a lawsuit filed this week in Delaware district court, LG Household & Healthcare -- South Korea's largest producer of household goods, including soap, toothpaste, and detergent -- alleges that the Crest whitening products utilize technology owned by LG Household, which holds two U.S. patents issued in 2004.
The patents cover dry tooth-whitening patches that use peroxide as a whitening agent. The technology in dispute involves the adhesive layer of the strips, according to news reports.
P&G began selling Crest Whitestrips in 2000 and introduced the Advanced Seal version in January.
