More than $1 million in federal stimulus funds are being spent to help a community health center in Rochester, NY, expand its dental care offerings in underserved areas, according to a story on rocnow.com.
The Oak Orchard Community Health Center, which has four offices in rural areas west of Rochester, used a $250,000 grant to hire two dentists and support staff, rocnow.com reported. The center will use another grant of $830,000 to purchase dental and computer equipment, buy standby generators, fix two parking lots, paint the exterior of a clinic, and replace signs and carpeting.
The dental workers hired, which also include a hygienist and dental assistants, are the equivalent of four full-time positions, according to the story.
