British dentists resist new government contract

The British Dental Association (BDA) has recommended that its members not sign a new contract drafted by the National Health Service (NHS), according to a report in the Daily Mail. The contract is intended to replace one put in place three years ago that led many dentists to leave the service.

The contract requires complicated record keeping, some of which can't be done on a computer, and would lead to delays in payments for members' NHS work, according to the BDA.

The Department of Health, however, said it is using the draft contract as a pilot and will work with the BDA to institute changes if needed.
