The Children's Dental Health Project has released a side-by-side comparison of the dental provisions in the three major healthcare reform bills making their way through the U.S. Congress.
The comparison suggests that a bill passed in three committees of the U.S. House of Representatives and one passed in the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) are similar to each other, and that both have more provisions to increase dental services than a bill now being debated in the Senate Committee on Finance.
While all three provide for universal dental benefits for children, prospects for adult benefits look more likely in the House and HELP bills. Unlike the other two, the Senate Finance bill doesn't provide additional money for training dental professionals.
The ADA has also issued a comparison of the House and HELP bills, but has not yet included the Senate Finance bill. The ADA comparison also details the organization's positions on most of the dental provisions in these bills.
