Actress Mischa Barton ended up in a psychiatric hospital because of complications following surgery to remove her third molars, according to an interview in Time Out New York.
Barton, 23, is known for her role as Marissa Cooper in the Fox TV series "The O.C."
Just before she started filming a new series, "The Beautiful Life," Barton was traveling abroad and decided to have all four third molars removed, she reportedly told Time Out.
"It all went wrong and I had to have a second surgery and it almost delayed shooting," she is quoted.
She also reportedly said that she "had to get through it without proper painkillers" because she couldn't take them while working.
Barton was involuntarily taken by police to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles July 15, according to a report in the New York Post. Barton said she was hospitalized because she was "completely stressed out."
