Wis. association produces, distributes educational kit

The Wisconsin Dental Association (WDA) is reaching its members and tripartite members in the other 49 states with a new continuing education initiative, according to an ADA News article.

The WDA Dental Home kit includes a 35-minute DVD that covers topics such as the causes and effects of early childhood caries, how to perform a quick oral exam on 1-year-olds using the knee-to-knee method, preventive counseling for parents, and more, the story reported.

The kit also contains a caries risk assessment form, a preventive recommendation form, and talking points to help dentists explain the dental home initiative to legislators and media representatives.

The kit was produced with support from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and Procter & Gamble Oral Health.

The WDA distributed the kit to each of its members, 34 community dental health clinics throughout Wisconsin, and all U.S. state dental association executive directors, according to the story.
