A new stop-action sitcom, "Glenn Martin, DDS," premieres tonight on Nickelodeon children's TV network.
The show features a dentist who decides to take his family on a tour of the U.S. in a camper decorated with a giant toothbrush. The premiere episode, according to newspaper reports, doesn't put much emphasis on Dr. Martin's profession, but rather on his efforts to unplug his kids from their electronic devices and bring them into face-to-face contact with human beings.
Critics so far have not greeted the show with rapture. A Los Angeles Times reviewer called it "weak and wheezy." The Boston Herald found it "adequate in a banal way." The New York Times found it "pretty much laugh-free."
