Iowa dental health group addresses dentist shortage

The Iowa Rural Dental Health Initiative has launched a new Web site to match dentists with Iowa communities searching for a dentist, according to a story in the Gazette.

In Iowa, 55 of 99 counties have a shortage of dentists, the story noted. Dentists who move to those areas could be eligible for up to $100,000 in loan repayments under the Fulfilling Iowa's Need for Dentists (FIND) project. Funding is through a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services grant, Delta Dental, and matching community grants, the Gazette reported.

Delta Dental also offers an Iowa Loan Repayment Program of up to $50,000 for dentists moving to 89 counties considered dental shortage areas.
