United Concordia Dental is celebrating National Smile Month, June 1-30, by sponsoring dental clinics in three U.S. cities: Columbus, GA; Uniontown, PA; and Pittsburgh.
"These dental clinics provide a way for United Concordia to reach out to those members of the community that otherwise could not afford preventive dental care, and help provide a number of services they need to maintain good oral health," said Dr. Richard Klich, United Concordia's national dental director, in a press release.
Each clinic has volunteer dentists who examine the attendees and discuss any dental problems they have been experiencing. Dental treatment is often provided at the clinics, or referrals are provided for the patients to receive treatment at a later date.
National Smile Month is a collaboration between Oral Health America and the British Dental Health Foundation to promote the importance of proper oral care, good nutrition, and regular dentist visits.
