It is a well-known fact that one of the major victims of today's soft drink culture are teeth. Now a new study offers a healthy alternative: brewed tea.
Brewed tea is the best option for maintaining oral health, according to a study in the July/August issue of General Dentistry, published by the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). The study found that tea had the same erosive effects as water -- none, according to an AGD press release.
"Severe cases of erosion occur monthly and are frequently associated with high rates of soft drink consumption," stated Kenton Ross, D.M.D., an AGD spokesperson, in the release. "I would highly recommend patients choose tea as an alternative to more erosive drinks like soda and fruit juice."
