A Washington dentist and oral surgeon with a checkered past has been sued by an 18-year-old woman who said he botched a breast reduction on her three years ago, according to a story in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
The newspaper reports that 55-year-old Thomas Laney, D.D.S., M.D., was practicing in Seattle, where he was able to remain licensed and in business despite the death of a patient and 10 malpractice lawsuits against him. Dr. Laney was doing full-body cosmetic surgeries without having done a residency or fellowship in the specialty, according to the Post-Intelligencer.
Dr. Laney continues to practice, in Moses Lake, WA, according to the story. His lawyer, Steve Fitzer, told the newspaper that Dr. Laney no longer does cosmetic surgery, however.
