Heartland Dental -- a company that manages dental practices in a dozen states -- will pay $3 million to settle allegations by the U.S. Attorney's office that it billed Illinois Medicaid for unnecessary dental work, according to newspaper reports.
The company was further accused of letting dentists write prescriptions without government clearance.
Heartland Dental has not admitted to either allegation.
