Artificial intelligence (AI)-driven dental technology provider Perceptive announced that it has completed the first fully automated dental procedure on a human using its AI system.
The Perceptive system integrates AI-driven 3D imaging software with a robotic arm to perform dental procedures, initially focusing on restorative dentistry.
The AI robotics system uses 3D volumetric data for accurate diagnostics and treatment planning, starting with an optical coherence technology scan of the patient's tooth and mouth using Perceptive's handheld intraoral scanner. AI algorithms then analyze the 3D data to efficiently and precisely plan the procedure.
