Kettenbach markets scannable bite registration material

Kettenbach has released its Futar Scan bite registration material for use with CAD/CAM systems.

Futar Scan is a scannable, addition-curing, polyvinyl siloxane bite registration material. It can be scanned by optical or laser systems without the necessary powder needed with some CAD/CAM systems, according to Kettenbach.

Futar Scan stands out from other bite registration materials because of "its excellent optical properties, guaranteeing high recording quality and optimal image replication," the company stated in a press release.

The material has a Shore-D hardness of 35, a total working time of 15 seconds, and an intraoral set time of 45 seconds (total set time of 1 minute), according to Kettenbach.

Yet the material can easily be trimmed with a bur or scalpel, the company said. It's available in a package containing 2 x 50-mL cartridges and 12 mixing tips.
