3Shape expands into intraoral scanners

3Shape has introduced its new Trios intraoral scanner, designed to enable dentists to capture the complete intraoral image directly and save it as a 3D digital model.

Using the Trios, dentists can bypass the taking of impressions and related disadvantages, such as inaccuracies, material costs, impression retakes, and manual handling, the company noted.

Labs will strengthen professional ties with their dentist clients by offering new digital services that include receiving the dentist's Trios scans directly, according to 3Shape.

Workflow benefits for the lab include accurate case input and shorter turnaround times by allowing restoration work to be started immediately without first creating a physical model, the company said.

Heraeus Kulzer has signed up as the first partner and distributor for the Trios scanner.
