Sirona CEO to step down; Q4 results strong

Effective February 20, 2013, Jost Fischer will hand over the reigns of Sirona Dental Systems to Jeffrey Slovin, currently president of the company.

Fischer will retire from his current positions of CEO and chairman of the board, the company announced. He had been CEO of Sirona for 11 years.

Thomas Jetter, a current member of the company's board of directors, will become chairman of the board, and Rainer Berthan is being promoted to executive vice president.

Prior to joining Sirona, Slovin was CEO of Schick Technologies, which Sirona acquired in 2006.

In related news, Sirona reported revenues of $247.4 million for the fourth quarter of 2012 (end-September 30), a 13% increase over revenues of $219 million for the same quarter in 2011.

Revenue in the U.S. increased 34.1%, while revenues outside the U.S. increased 5.7% (up 19.2% constant currency), with particularly robust performance in the Asia-Pacific region, according to the company.

Net income for the quarter was $34.7 million, up from $13.8 million in the same quarter a year ago.
