Heraeus acquires Swedish CAD/CAM firm

Heraeus Dental has acquired Biomain, a Swedish provider of customized CAD/CAM implants.

The acquisition is intended to strengthen Heraeus' presence in the Northern European dental CAD/CAM market and extend its patent and product portfolio in digital implant prosthetics, according to the companies.

Biomain, founded in 2002, manufactures CAD/CAM frameworks, supra-structures, and prosthetic components at its production and development centre in Helsingborg.

Heraeus Dental offers a range of products for a variety of applications. Among them are its CAD/CAM solutions under the cara brand, which includes milled or sintered crowns and bridges, and individualized abutments in such materials as zirconia, polymers, cobalt chromium, and titanium.

All offers for Biomain and Heraeus customers will remain unchanged.
