Asiga has introduced a compact, low-cost 3D printer for digital manufacturing, including the fabrication of dental models and crown and bridge casting patterns.
The Pico, unveiled this week at the Euromold 2011 conference in Frankfurt, Germany, weighs only 22 lb and measures about 9 x 9 inches (22-cm footprint). It incorporates an ultraviolet LED light source that allows the system to print in pure white and water-clear materials, according to the company.
The Pico costs $6,990 and is designed to make 3D printing and tooling-grade digital manufacturing more affordable for small businesses, according to Asiga CTO Ray Ericsson.
