D4D releases E4D Compass

Dental CAD/CAM systems manufacturer D4D Technologies has introduced E4D Compass, a new education, communication, and collaboration implant planning system.

E4D Compass integrates 3D data from several cone-beam CT systems with E4D scan data to provide dental professionals an interactive view of the oral environment prior to implant placement, according to the company.

D4D Technologies has worked with cone-beam CT manufacturers such as Imaging Sciences International, Gendex Dental Systems, and Instrumentarium/Soredex to coordinate compatibility of the treatment planning process.

"By combining the surface data from E4D with the underlying anatomy from the cone-beam 3D scan, doctors now have access to the full picture for complete implant and restorative treatment planning," stated Mark Hillebrandt, director of marketing at Imaging Sciences, in a press release.

E4D Compass integrates laser intraoral, model or impression scans, and cone-beam data, and the E4D Compass software guides the operator through the process of determining positioning and design for restorative-driven implant therapy.

"The ability to do this at the chair is great for patient education and treatment plan acceptance, since it demonstrates the individual patient's real data instead of using stock images or demonstration models," said Gary Severance, DDS, vice president of marketing and clinical affairs for D4D Technologies. "The patient is engaged in the process from the beginning."

E4D Compass is available through Henry Schein Dental and is compatible with E4D Dentist systems running DentaLogic 2.0 and i-CAT and i-CAT Precise, GXDP-700, Scanora 3D, and Orthopantomograph 0P300 cone-beam systems.
