3Shape releases Convince 2011 for 3D scanning

3Shape, a provider of 3D scanners and CAD/CAM software, has launched the Convince 2011 3D scanning and quality control system for 3D digitization and quality control of small, detail-rich objects, including dental restorations.

The Convince 2011 system presents three new scanners offering different performance levels: the D500 1.3-megapixel (MP) scanner for entry-level users or general 3D applications; the Q700 1.3-MP midmarket level scanner; and the Q800, a high-resolution scanner with 5.0-MP cameras.

Convince 2011 also features two software package choices: Convince Standard and Convince Premium. Convince Standard software provides generic 3D scanning and creation of digital models for use in digitization or production processes. Scanning output can be used with other market-specific software.

Convince Premium is full-featured quality control software. Building on the proven success of previous Convince versions, 3Shape has now further developed its array of advanced features for professional measurement and quality control. Convince 2011 features include full support for measuring without a reference model using self-defined virtual geometries, plus the ability to define multiple coordinate systems.

"In today's competitive climate, more and more companies are seeking technologies that are easy to integrate, easy to operate, and significantly speed up the production workflow," said Birk Plönnigs, sales and product manager for 3Shape 3D Scanning & QC Systems. "They come from all types of industries, so we made Convince 2011 a modular system that is easy to tailor to specific application needs."
