U.S. Navy unveils global dental imaging system

Force 3 has completed the deployment of the U.S. Navy's Dental Digital Imaging (DDI) system throughout the National Naval Medical Center (NNMC) in Bethesda, MD. The deployment consisted of Navy DDI installation and training throughout all dental departments at NNMC, including Camp David and the White House.

The National Naval Medical Center is one of the largest military medical centers in the U.S., best known for its history of providing care to war heroes and presidents alike for the past 65 years.

The Navy DDI system enables Navy dental providers around the world to take, view, manipulate, and share digital images, ultimately making it easier to diagnose and treat dental diseases.

The system includes Dell servers and workstations, Microsoft and Symantec server software, Apteryx imaging software, and various digital imaging capture devices. Force 3 installed servers and other DDI equipment, integrated the technologies, and provided software and training services from various dental vendors, including Kodak, Planmeca, Apteryx, Rimage, and Air Techniques.

By spring 2011, the Navy DDI system will be installed at every navy dental clinic worldwide, according to Force 3.
