Sirona offers inLab users customized zirconia abutments

Sirona Dental Systems is now offering its inLab CAD/CAM system users the ability to create in-house customized zirconia abutments.

Along with new inLab 3D custom abutment software, Sirona is also offering inCoris Meso zirconia milling blocks and titanium base sets that are compatible with a variety of dental implant systems to enable inLab users to create customized ceramic abutments on their inLab MC XL milling units.

The new software utilizes Sirona's integrated implant database to match the correct TiBase set and inCoris Meso milling blocks with various implant systems, including Nobel Biocare, Straumann, Astra Tech, Friadent, Biomet 3i, Zimmer, and CAMLOG, the company noted.

Each Sirona TiBase kit includes a specific titanium base, abutment screw, and scan body designed to fit with the corresponding implant. A prefabricated rotation lock located within the new inCoris Meso blocks ensures a secure implant connection. The inCoris Meso blocks are available in two shades, FO.5 and F2, and two sizes, small and large.

The new inLab 3D custom implant abutment software allows the user to design both the restoration and mesostructure in a single step. After acquiring a precise implant position using the inEos Blue scanner, the top-down design method of the new software allows the user to efficiently create both a customized crown and matching abutment. The full-contour or cutback restoration can be milled from feldspar, glass ceramic, or lithium disilicate materials.

The software utilizes a telescopic angle to identify shoulder depth, gingival pressure, and other highly detailed parameters of any given full-contour crown design. After determining all parameters, the design is complete and both crown and abutment components are then ready to be milled.

Alternatively, the user may also choose to reduce the crown, create a cutback, and use the direct veneering method. In addition, after cementing the mesostructure to the titanium base, a conventional crown can also be created on the customized abutment.
