SAN FRANCISCO - Philips has introduced its newest whitening product, the Philips Zoom QuickPro varnish, today at the California Dental Association's CDA Presents conference.
Research shows that up to 8 out of 10 Americans are concerned about yellowing teeth, but only 2 of 10 are using a professional whitening product, the company said in a presentation.
Two years in development, the five-minute dental office procedure is billed as a game changer by the company. The Philips Zoom QuickPro has a two-layer technology with a 20% hydrogen peroxide whitening varnish followed by a sealant layer that dries in seconds and locks the hydrogen peroxide layer into place. The patient leaves the office after the procedure and, 30 minutes later, brushes or wipes the film off his or her teeth.
During the company's two years of research, only 1 out of 44 patients noted sensitivity, according to Philips. Development has shown that patients' teeth could look up to four shades whiter after the five-minute, in-office procedure, the company noted.
Philips has started taking orders at CDA Presents, and live demonstrations will occur at the ADA meeting in San Antonio in October. The product will list for just under $45 for practices (minimum of six units), and the company suggests a price of just under $125 for patients.
