ApneaRx oral appliance offers custom fit

Apnea Sciences has introduced ApneaRx, a patented design that can be fitted and adjusted by trained sleep care providers as well as dentists.

ApneaRx is the only boil and bite oral appliance that can be adjusted in 1-mm increments to ensure a custom fit, without the use of screws, plastic straps, rubber bands, or other accessories, according to the company.

In addition, the prescription device is now recognized by Medicare as reimbursable under Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) Code E0485, prefabricated oral appliance. To qualify, patients must be diagnosed with mild to moderate sleep apnea or be continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP)-intolerant. Many major health insurance companies also reimburse for this, including Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare, according to Apnea Sciences.

ApneaRx was developed and is manufactured by Apnea Sciences and is sold by CareFusion.
