Biolux Research is sponsoring the inaugural Rapid Orthodontics Symposium, planned in conjunction with the 17th UAE International Dental Conference & Arab Dental Exhibition (AEEDC) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), on February 6, 2013.
The symposium is designed to bring together the leading experts in the world on various techniques and technologies related to accelerating orthodontic tooth movement, improving treatment efficiency, and reducing treatment timelines, according to the company. The event is being developed by Donald J. Ferguson, DMD, professor and dean, European University College in Dubai Healthcare City.
Despite significant advances in orthodontic appliance materials and techniques, orthodontic treatment timelines are still typically 24 months or more due to biological limitations of tooth movement, and the long duration remains one of the top barriers to higher patient acceptance of this medical procedure, the company noted. New innovations in surgical techniques and technology have led to breakthrough advances to stimulate the biology of tooth movement, supporting more rapid tooth movement during orthodontic treatment with traditional fixed or removable appliances.
Four internationally recognized researchers investigating the effects of photobiomodulation will present at the meeting.
