Respire Medical, a manufacturer of oral appliances for the treatment of snoring and sleep apnea, has introduced the Respire Blue Series.
The product, which the company says is the most affordable oral appliance on the market, recently gained marketing clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The Respire appliance is designed to allow patients to adjust it themselves, making it easier to use, according to t the company.
"In our office, we found adjustments of some appliances are difficult to explain," Respire states on its website. "With our appliance, you simply adjust the lower to advance the lower."
In addition, the attachment is further anterior than with other oral appliances, giving patients more room in the buccal vestibule. Other design features include the following:
- The appliance is open in the front, which allows the patient to inhale and exhale more air per breath.
- It can be made with a softer layer on the tooth surface for additional comfort.
Respire Medical was formed in March 2010 by two New York-based dentists to meet the needs of doctors and patients in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea and snoring.
