Bayer HealthCare has introduced Bayer Advanced aspirin, which can relieve pain twice as fast as previous Bayer aspirin tablets, according to the company.
Two dental pain efficacy studies were conducted to evaluate Bayer Advanced 325-mg and 500-mg aspirin tablets; both demonstrated faster onset of pain relief compared with the previous Bayer aspirin tablet, the company said.
Bayer Advanced aspirin was tested in multiple sites on dental patients who had just had wisdom teeth extracted. The company said 500 mg of the new aspirin started working in 16 minutes and brought "meaningful pain relief'' in 49 patients, on average, compared with 100 minutes for the same dose of regular aspirin. Bayer is arranging to publish its research. It has not tested the aspirin against other pain relievers.
The new aspirin is available at major retailers nationwide in regular 325-mg and extra-strength 500-mg doses.
