GLO Science enters teeth-whitening market

GLO Science introduced its GLO Brilliant personal teeth-whitening device February 1 on the HSN TV shopping channel.

Created by Jonathan B. Levine, DMD, an entrepreneur, author, and inventor, GLO Science "redefines the at-home teeth-whitening experience," the company said in a press release.

It features guided light optics (GLO) technology that use heat and light built into a closed system mouthpiece to prevent whitening oxygens from escaping the surface of the teeth and to accelerate and stabilize the whitening results, GLO Science said. Clinical studies with GLO Whitening have demonstrated up to five shades lighter, an improvement in the shade of teeth in three to five days, and no sensitivity, according to the company.

The system comprises the GLO Brilliant personal teeth-whitening device, GLO Brilliant mouthpiece, and GLO whitening gels (G-Vials). The company currently has 12 patents pending related to this technology.

Last month, Go Smile -- another company founded by Dr. Levine -- filed two lawsuits against him alleging that his use of trademarks for his new line of home-based teeth-whitening products are "confusingly similar" to Go Smiles' and that he is violating a noncompete agreement.
