AZ-TMJ, a clinic in Scottsdale, AZ, that focuses on the treatment of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder, severe headaches, and sleep apnea, has developed a treatment using Botox to ease muscle cramping and clenching and grinding of teeth.
"I have found this treatment to be highly effective in a substantial number of cases where the effects of other treatments are often mitigated by the presence of muscle spasms," said Stan Farrell, D.D.S., founder of AZ-TMJ, in a press release. "The Botox treatment I have developed allows other noninvasive treatments to work much more effectively in these instances."
AZ-TMJ's treatment is a nonsurgical procedure in which Botox is injected into the jaw muscle. The procedure is not time-consuming and the patient only needs an ice pack after treatment to help with the inflammation, according to Dr. Farrell.
